Facilities
1) Various modern techniques of thin films deposition such as Chemical Vapor Deposition   (CVD), Pulse Laser Deposition (PLD), Langmuir Blodgett Trough, Sputtering unit of high power etc.

2) Electrical, magnetic, structural and thermal characterization of films and multi-layers

3) Ultra fast laser pulses for studying the swift processes (femto-second time scale) in semiconductors, polymers and molecules.

4) Low temperature facilities to study the electrical properties of the films and bulk materials.

5) High temperature furnaces (including vacuum arc.) to design and synthesize new materials, alloys and exotic phases.

6) X-ray diffraction apparatus for studying the bulk and thin films material

In addition, many more important characterization techniques are available in regional sophisticated instrumentation center (RSIC) situated in IIT campus

High End Machines in the Dept.

Apart from owning many Dell Pentium 4 Machines , Physics Dept.  also own some high end machines placed in various labs which are used in research fields for computations and programming works.
