of the participants are put up at Vanvihar guest
house.
The keys to the rooms can be directly collected from
the reception
of Vanvihar.
Post-Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students are put up
in the
Staff Hostel. The
keys to these rooms should be collected from
the reception of the Main
Guest House.
We are making arrangements to pick up as many people
as possible.
Please look for a person carrying WHEPP-8/IIT BOMBAY
placard.
In case, you don't find such a person, please take a
taxi to IIT in Powai.
Most taxi drivers know where Powai is and IIT is very
prominent in
Powai. The rough distances and taxi fares from airports
and stations
are given under `Reaching
IIT'. From International Airport, you can
take pre-paid taxi. From Domestic Airport, you should
take a taxi from
a line standing at the arrival terminal. From various
stations also, you
should take taxi from a line standing outside. In case
of need, call one
of the people at the phone numbers given below.
The weather in Bombay during January is pleasant. Daytime
temparatures
are in 22-28 Celsius range and night time temparatures
are in the range
16-20 Celsius. You may need a sweater or a light jacket
at night. Guest
House provides wollen blankets.
Breakfast and dinner will be served in the special serving
area on the
left hand side of the 2nd floor of GulMohur restaurant.
Lunch will be
served on the 3rd floor dining hall. WHEPP-8 has made
arrangement
to serve dinner on January 4th (sunday). People who come
before 4th
evening have to take care of their own breakfast/lunch.
The sessions in the first week (January 5-9) will take
place in
Electrical Engineering Seminar Hall. The Hall is equipped
with
a PC and an LCD projector. Computer based presentations,
either
from the PC or a Laptop are possible. Please note that
in India, we
use 220 V/ 50 Hz power supply. Rooms in Vanvihar have
internet
ports. You can connect to Internet directly from your
room, if you
have a laptop.
