Unified theory of fundamental forces has been a major motivation behind the study of Elementary Particles. A vital guiding principle towards this theoretical effort has been to propose symmetries which would ingeniously link the diverse experimetnal phenomena, or remove theoretical paradoxes. In recent years a fresh enthusiasm has been generated to explore whether existence of hitherto unseen extra dimensions yields new unifying symmetry principles. It is proposed to hold a workshop with the above named title at the Department of Physics, IIT, Bombay during March 2006. The primary goal is to share recent developments among the participants who will be people actively working on concerned topics and provide an in depth explosure to potential new entrants to the field. People interested in participation are requested to get in touch with the Local Steering Committee or any of the NOC members.
