Title: A Semi-analytical Log-likelihood-ratio for Searching Gravitational Waves with SPIIR pipeline
Speaker: Weichangfeng Guo, University of Western Australia
Abstract: We construct a semi-analytical log-likelihood-ratios for compact-binary coalescence searches with Summed Parallel Infinite Impulse Response (SPIIR), using signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), χ², coherence, mass-spin weighting and machine learning to downrank glitches for high-mass templates. In the third observing run (O3), at detection threshold of 1 per 2 months, sensitive distances for binary neutron stars, neutron star–black hole binaries and binary black holes are 138/165/396 Mpc (single detector) and 153/208/456 Mpc (network). Changes versus the pipelines with the best results from third Gravitational-Wave Transient Catalog are +23.9%/+5.7%/+10.5% and −1.6%/−2.7%/+1.7%, respectively. We also identify a new O3 single-detector candidate with a strongly asymmetric mass ratio, q = 0.10, and a source-frame secondary mass of 2.95 M☉ (90% interval: 2.53–3.82 M☉). The candidate has L1 SNR of 8.11, false alarm rate of 0.68 yr⁻¹ and P(astro) = 0.91.
