The department offers a 4-year B.Tech. programme in Engineering Physics and a 2-year M.Sc. programme in Physics. From the academic session 2005-2006, the department is also starting two new dual degree programmes, namely, B.Tech-M.Tech. in Engineering Physics and M.Sc.-Ph.D. in Physics. The department also offers an active and sought after Ph.D. programme, in which over about 50 research students are currently enrolled.
The department has about thirty active faculty members and a large number of research associates who undertake cutting edge research on various active fields in physics from Nano Sciences to High Energy Particle physics.
