Title: Precision studies in the Standard Model

Speaker: Dr. Pulak Banerjee, IIT Guwahati

Abstract: The Standard Model continues to be one of the well-tested theories in particle physics. To test the accuracy of its predictions, it is necessary to compare them to experimental measurements. One way to increase such accuracies is to precisely compute higher-order terms in the perturbation series.

In this colloquium talk, I will give an overview of some of these precision physics studies. I will show how at each order in the perturbation series we encounter divergences and also discuss ways how to handle them, which subsequently will lead us to a better understanding of the underlying field theory. Through some of our works, I will discuss the ways we tackled these challenging computations and obtained meaningful results relevant to different experiments.
