Title: Optical interface for spectrally multiplexed quantum communication

Speaker: Dr. Tanmoy Chakraborty, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad

Abstract: Multiplexing is proposed to be a potential route towards achieving efficient quantum communication between distant points. Multiplexed quantum communication architectures require optical interfaces that comprise multiplexed sources of photon pairs and optical detection mechanisms that can distinguish among different modes of the photons. Towards achieving an interface for spectrally multiplexing, I will present the development of an alignment-free multiplexed photon pair source, and the design and implementation of a demultiplexing setup for spectrally-resolved detection of the photons. I will also present the characterisation of multiple pairs of spectrally-resolved modes and demonstrate a spectrally-resolved optical interface of our photon pair source with thulium-doped lithium niobate crystal, a candidate for multimode quantum memory.
