Title: A story of quantum magnetism

Speaker: Prof. Sumiran Pujari, Department of Physics, IIT Bombay

Abstract: After giving a short history of magnetism, I will discuss why quantum magnets, and in particular, antiferromagnets are interesting. This will set the stage for frustrated quantum antiferromagnets where the possibility of a quantum spin "liquid" arises, a topic of great interest in present-day research. I will conclude by describing one particular piece of my recent work in this direction which relates to the frustrated Kagome quantum antiferromagnet.
