Title: Non-equilibrium dynamics in Quantum Phase Transitions                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Abstract: Quantum phase transitions or zero temperature phase transitions are phase transitions which are driven by quantum fluctuations rather than thermal fluctuations in the conventional phase transitions. After introducing the concept of equilibrium properties of a quantum phase transition using the prototypical model-Transverse Ising Model, we shall delve into the non-equilibrium dynamics generated as a result of sudden change to the Hamiltonian, called sudden quench. A semi-classical theory of quasi particles generated shall be used to understand the evolution of various quantities after a sudden quench. Some recent results on this topic will be presented.
