Title: Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev model and its generalizations
Event Date:

Abstract:

Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model is a quantum mechanical model of N fermions with disordered interactions. At low energies, the model flows to strong coupling but is still solvable at large N, and turns out to have properties similar to black holes in gravity. This has led to much interest since this could provide a solvable example for AdS/CFT correspondence. After an introduction to the model, with a view towards expanding the class of such solvable models, I will discuss some of its natural generalizations to 2 dimensions. We find a rich variety of low energy behaviours in these 2 dimensional models.
