Title: Object processing in the human brain - exploring the primary organisation in high-level visual cortex

Speaker: Mr. Sushrut Thorat, Radboud University, Nijmegen, The Netherlands

Abstract: Recognising objects in a dynamic, highly interactive, world is a hard problem. Research in neuroscience and artificial intelligence has shed light on possible solutions. We will discuss the current understanding of how the human visual system processes objects. We will also explore the tools used in contemporary visual cognitive neuroscience - multivariate pattern analysis and deep neural networks - by discussing my current research (Thorat et al., eLife 2019) investigating object representations in the final, categorical, stage of the visual system. In sum, I hope to give you a flavour of current research in cognitive neuroscience.
