Title: Overview and recent results about GW170817
Speaker: Prof. Eric Chassande-Mottin, CNRS AstroParticule & Cosmologie/APC, Univ Paris Diderot
Abstract: On Aug 17 2017, LIGO and Virgo made the first observation of gravitational-wave signal from a binary neutron star merger. This signal was followed by a variety of electromagnetic counterparts covering the wide range of wavelengths from radio to gamma-rays. Some of those counterparts are still observed today. We will give an overview of the science extracted so far from the gravitational-wave signal and present an update on the recent observations and their implication.
