Title: Global phase diagram of charge neutral graphene in the quantum Hall regime
Speaker: Prof. Ganpathy Murthy, University of Kentucky, USA
Abstract: Quantum Hall systems with a partially filled manifold of Landau levels exhibit the phenomenon of quantum Hall ferromagnetism. The simplest example is the nu=1 Landau level in semiconductor heterostructures, where the state spontaneously spin polarizes even in the absence of Zeeman coupling. In graphene the situation is richer because of the spin and valley degrees of freedom. Recent experiments which show some dissonance between each other give additional motivation to re-examine the phase diagram of charge neutral graphene at high magnetic fields. I will report on some recent progress in this direction.
