Title: Understanding the Top Quark
Speaker: Prof. Poulose Poulose, IIT Guwahati
Abstract: The top quark is one of the most interesting elementary particles, with a mass about 180 times that of a proton. Having the strongest coupling to the Higgs boson it is intimately connected to the electroweak symmetry breaking. Precise information on its properties like mass and couplings are essential to understanding the particle dynamics at the electroweak scale. In this talk, we shall discuss the present status of LHC measurements related to the top quark, and attempt to understand the prospects at the LHC as well as other projected experiments.
