Title: Forward Physics Facility @ CERN: the astroparticle connection
Speaker: Prof. Subir Sarkar, University of Oxford
Abstract: There has been a renaissance of high energy neutrino physics at CERN with the detection of TeV energy neutrinos from the colliding beams at the LHC by the FASER & SND detectors, and the approval of the SHiP experiment at the SPS ECN3 beam dump. There is much exciting physics that can be done at the proposed Forward Physics Facility, which is of direct relevance to astroparticle physics experiments like the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the Pierre Auger Observatory for cosmic rays. I will discuss relevant topics such as neutrino interactions, forward charm & light hadron production and searches for new physics beyond-the-Standard-Model.
