Looking for new physics with the top quark at the LHC
Event Date:
Thursday, 1 October 2015 - 11:30am to 12:30pm

Speaker: Prof. Saurabh Rindani, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad.

Abstract: It is 20 years since the discovery of the top quark. A number of measurements of top properties were carried out at the Tevatron. With copious production of top quarks at the LHC, a number of top-quark properties will be determined with a good deal of accuracy. A determination of top-quark couplings to standard-model particles will enable a test of the standard model, and if necessary, alternative scenarios. The talk will describe some proposals to use top polarization at the LHC to study top-quark couplings to gauge bosons and the Higgs boson.
